Interior Pipework:

Visually inspect the condition of the pipework inside the home, particularly the cold water supply. Take a look underneath sinks and baths, in cupboards, in the loft, and the garage, and so on. Should there be any green tinges around them, then, they are near the end of their life.

Lead Pipes:

Should there be any older lead pipes in your domestic plumbing system, they need to be replaced as soon as possible. Your local authority can give you a grant that will help with the cost of carrying this out. Power Flushing London tradespeople will find and replace these.

Taps:

The humble tap can be a great indicator regarding the age of a plumbing system. If they refuse to stop dripping, and the constant dripping is leaving brown water stains down the side of the bath or wash basin, then they need to be replaced with new ones.

Cold Water Storage Tank:

Take a good look at this tank, it is usually in the loft. All tanks made of lead, galvanized steel or asbestos are a hazard and need to be replaced as a priority.

Ballcocks:

Whilst in the loft, look at the float valve inside the cold-water storage tank. If the ball is dented and green, it is made of copper. Copper floats have been obsolete for years, so if you have one it probably needs to be replaced.

Water Suppliers Stop Cock:

This should be located outside the house. The valve will normally be sat in the pavement by the front gate, or maybe in the garden near the road. It is below ground level, usually with a cast iron hinged lid. Power Flush London plumbers are all skilled.

Main Interior Stopcock:

Find out where the main stopcock is inside the house. It is usually located under the kitchen sink, but could be just about anywhere. Make sure that it works.
